It’s for anyone who’s ever been curious about contemporary art. And especially for those who want to explore it but aren’t quite sure where to start. If you’ve ever walked past a gallery and thought “maybe one day” — this is that day.
How it works
- Within 2 hours of the art walk you’ll visit 4 partner galleries.
- An artmate will introduce ART UNLOCKED method to experience art, built on foundations in art, neuroscience, and coaching.
- Between gallery visits, there are talking points to discuss the bigger picture: how galleries work, how collections begin, what the trends are, and why contemporary art matters beyond gallery walls.
Good to know before we begin
- Expect around 2 hours of walking, looking, talking, surprising yourself, and occasionally questioning everything.
- Do not expect it to be an art history lecture, but rather conversations coupled with your own observations.
- No prior art knowledge is required. Curiosity is highly recommended.

Being included in the art walk reflects how significant the gallery is for discovering art and starting as a collector — but it can also reflect the number of times we visited ourselves and thought, “Ooh, that’s interesting, funny, or odd!” while preparing the walks.
Absolutely not! The art walk focuses solely on exploring the contemporary art in small bits, based on what’s currently on show in the galleries we visit – and even then it doesn’t cover everything or everyone – it’s just a little personal guide with some useful bits of information and most importantly your own perspectives.
You’ll join a small group led by an artmate — our trained curator to the art world. Over 2 hours, you’ll visit 4 partner galleries. Inside each gallery, your artmate introduces the space, the exhibition, and gives you tools to engage with what you see. Between the gallery visits, you’ll explore the bigger picture of how contemporary art works.

ART UNLOCKED works exclusively with contemporary art galleries — spaces where art is happening now, exhibitions change regularly, and artworks can be purchased. Museums are a different story.
