ART UNLOCKED gallery walks are designed to make part of this huge art scene easier to navigate, connecting you with a curated selection of galleries and the art on show right now.

There isn’t one definitive list — and that’s part of the fun. Berlin’s gallery scene is spread across several neighbourhoods, with important clusters in Mitte, Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg. Galleries such as Esther Schipper, Galerie EIGEN + ART, KÖNIG GALERIE at St. Agnes and many others present changing exhibitions by established and emerging artists.

For ART UNLOCKED routes, we pre-select galleries that matter for discovering contemporary art in Berlin — but also the ones we find ourselves returning to again and again, and those that made us stop and think, “Ooh, that’s interesting, funny or odd!” while preparing the art walks in Berlin.

Unlike cities with one dominant gallery district, Berlin has several.

• Mitte, particularly around Auguststraße and Linienstraße, is a classic starting point.
• Charlottenburg and City West have become another important gallery destination, while Potsdamer Straße and Schöneberg offer a strong concentration of contemporary spaces.
• Kreuzberg brings a different energy, mixing galleries with the neighbourhood’s broader creative and street-art culture.
