How it works
- Within 2 hours, you’ll visit 4 galleries, each with its own art programme. All of them are pre-loved by our local artmate!
- Your artmate will introduce you to the ART UNLOCKED Method — our way of looking at art, which brings together art, neuroscience and coaching.
- Along the way we’ll connect the dots: how galleries work, how collections begin, what’s trending in the art world, and why contemporary art matters beyond gallery walls.
Who it’s for
It’s for anyone who’s ever been curious about contemporary art. And especially for those who want to explore it but aren’t quite sure where to start. If you’ve ever walked past a gallery and thought “maybe one day” — this is that day.
Good to know before we begin
- Expect around 2 hours of walking, looking, talking, surprising yourself, and occasionally questioning everything.
- Do not expect it to be an art history lecture, but rather conversations coupled with your own observations.
- No prior art knowledge is required. Curiosity is highly recommended.
Disclaimer: You won’t be an art genius at the end (sorry!). But you’ll leave feeling more confident walking into your next exhibition, trusting your own perspective, and noticing how art shapes the way we see the world. That’s where the fun begins!

Absolutely not! The art walk focuses solely on exploring the contemporary art in small bits, based on what’s currently on show in the galleries we visit – and even then it doesn’t cover everything or everyone – it’s just a little personal guide with some useful bits of information and most importantly your own perspectives.
You’ll join a small group led by an artmate – someone trained to art walk in the ART UNLOCKED style. Over 2 hours, you’ll visit 4 contemporary art galleries. At each one, your artmate introduces the gallery and exhibition and shares tools from the ART UNLOCKED Method to help you engage with what you see. Between visits, you’ll connect the dots and explore the bigger picture of how contemporary art works.

No, not at all. ART UNLOCKED works exclusively with contemporary art galleries – places where you can discover what’s happening in art right now, exhibitions change regularly, and the artworks you see can actually be purchased. Museums are a different story.
You can buy contemporary art directly from commercial galleries in Copenhagen. All ART UNLOCKED partner galleries are commercial spaces, so if something catches your eye, it may be available to purchase. We keep the art walk focused on experiencing art – and afterwards, your artmate can help you understand how purchasing works and what to do next.
